    Forum
Looks like the Rustycon Forum has had a resurgance of postings.

The forum will probably be the only thing staying up, and YES I'm working on the site. I don't want to replace it piecemeal.

    Cheers!

May I just say how freakin awesome the Marriott is, especially in comparison to the Holiday Inn last year, but really, even without comparison. We had the Pre-Con Meeting with them yesterday, which was pretty much all about, "how can we be the best con hotel EVAR?"

The beds are super comfy. Really, really comfy.

The maintenance staff is friendly and fast.

The rooms are nice, the bathrooms inviting, and the toiletries from Bath & Body Works smell great!

They also have a thing you can set outside your door saying what time you want your room cleaned (10-noon, 12-2, or 2-4).

Last night, we were looking at the breakfast menu. You know, the "put this on your door by midnight, and we'll bring you breakfast" menu? And we realized that if we ordered off the "sides" it was no more expensive than going to Denny's. And considering our eating-out budget, one less Denny's or fast food trip per day is a good thing! So we got really yummy oatmeal and bacon for me, and a bagel with cream cheese and bacon and ham for Drew, all for less than going to Denny's. And we didn't even have to leave the room!

All in all, a GREAT first day/night with the hotel!

    Update on Nick from Gene
    repost from mailing lists:

    Hi All

Nick is out of surgery and is pretty much ok.

He has lost 3 figures on his right hand and they have reconnected his right
figure and thumb on his left hand and they will see if the body doesn't
    reject them.

Like I said before the others are ok and only have bumps and bruises. They
are very shaken but they have all (with Bobbie and Jerry) got to Vegas.

More later... Please post this to list or LJ

    ConComCon 14

Hi there!  C-Cubed 14 is June 8-10th of this year.  Now entering its fourteenth year, ConComCon is the best place in the Pacific Northwest to network with other local convention runners, exchange ideas on how to make conventions run more effectively, and talk about fandom in general. Whether you have been running conventions for years, or you are completely new to convention running and you want to get your foot in the door, come on down and join us!  The C-Cubed committee has been working hard on creating fun and useful programming for guests this year.  Our theme this year is So You Want to Run a Convention?”  Programming topics include:

    ·         How to successfully interact with hotel personnel during contract negotiations, the convention planning process as well as the convention itself.

    ·         What makes a successful con Hospitality? Room party? Convention bid party? How do these events differ? How are they similar?

    ·         Technology: striking a balance between the new and cool and maximum usability and access for your potential membership

And much, much MORE!  C-Cube’s real strength is in providing a forum for con-runners from all over the Pacific Northwest to get together and swap shop talk. Have a problem? Someone else present may have or have had the same problem and can offer possible solutions as well as sympathy!

We’re located at the Holiday Inn Seattle - SeaTac Airport, 17338 International Blvd., Seattle WA 98188.  Tel: 206-248-1000 or 1-800-465-4329. Room Rates: Single/Doubles: $94.00 a night

Pre-Register Now  (and save some $$$)

    $25.00 until May 31, 2007
    $35.00 at the door

Check out our website at http://www.swoc.org/ccubed/ for additional information (including membership forms) or contact me directly and I’d be happy to send you a membership form!  Thanks for your time!

Rain Furrest present the Rustycon Plushie costume contest.

Last year Rustycon did one and it was great.  All the costumes where fantastic and we are hoping this year will be better.  This year is going to be a little different.  Instead of giving you 24 hours and a bag of random materials you are getting a little more time.

You have from when you see this notice until Saturday January 13, 2007 at 3:30pm to get it finished.  Your plushie needs to between 10 inches to 26 inches tall.  All animal types are welcome.  They will be judged on design and sewing and how well they fit the plushie.  To enter you need to be a member of Rustycon.

Warning: I do know every piece of clothing from Build A Bear so that won’t work.

We will have prizes and the Best of Show will win a free membership to Rain Furrest.
